Adoptable Rabbits

Email us or call the HopLine (413/525-9222) if you’d like to meet any of our foster bunnies! Here are the bunnies we are currently lovingly caring for until they find their forever homes.

The most rewarding results of HRC efforts relate to the hundreds of abandoned (and often neglected) rabbits that have been rescued and placed in permanent, loving homes since HRC’s inception. Adoptable rabbits are taken from shelters/animal care and adoption centers, examined by one of the rabbit-savvy vets who work regularly with HRC, spayed/neutered if necessary, placed in a loving foster home where they are socialized, litter-trained, and prepared for a loving, permanent, indoor adoptive home. By adopting a rescued rabbit, individuals are giving a bunny a new “leap on life.”

Adoption Fees: $60.00 for a single rabbit/$110.00 for a pair of rabbits.

All rabbits are socialized, spayed/neutered and litter box trained.

Karen and Nina are an adorable pair of female English Spot rabbits who are approximately 2 and 1 1/2 years old. They have come a long way in their foster home, but they are still shy and would love to find a quiet forever home. Karen, the brave one, will lead the way as she runs to greet you, and Nina is never far behind.

Their foster mom loves to share a bite of an apple with them or even an occasional strawberry as a treat.

This precious pair is looking for a loving and understanding home where they can build some much needed trust from a patient family.

Thumbelina

Thumbelina is a young adult Dwarf English Spot mix. She was purchased at a pet store and her family gave her up after only 4 days. That is about all the history we know of her.

She is a small rabbit White with Gray markings, and ooohhh sooo cute! She does startle fairly easily and is a little bit hand shy. Once she gets to know you she does warm up. She allows her foster mom to pet her while she is eating but is still hesitant about it at other times. She is not afraid of people but would just rather not have hands on her. That might change once she gets settled into a nice home and has more time with humans. She is playful and loves her big cardboard box. She can move that box all around her pen and has lots of fun with it. She loves her greens, is a good eater and is good with her litter box.

Peanut

Peanut is a one year old female rabbit. She has been spayed and is litter box trained. She enjoys chewing on old phone books and pine cones, relaxing in her bunny condo, and playing with toy balls that have bells in them. She likes it when you sit quietly with her so she can climb over you and run around you, but she would prefer it if you did not pick her up.

Her favorite foods are Granny Smith Apples, parsley and carrots. She is cautiously adventurous, and does like to chew when she is checking out new areas in the house, so be certain to rabbit-proof your cords and wood furniture.

She is being fostered in a house with cats and would be fine in a home with cats. She tends to be a bit on the shy side and she startles easily, so a quiet home with no small children would be best for her.

Jersey

Jersey is a young mini-rex that came to HRC in December of 2011. She was initially rescued by a rescue facility for farm animals, and through the dedication of this facility she found her way to HRC.

Understandably Jersey is still quite shy around people, but is becoming progressively more social and less shy as the days pass. She enjoys being petted, is extremely soft and will often settle right down for a good rub once familiar with someone. She is gentle in her manner and her playfulness. She enjoys moving towels around and tossing.

On of her quirks is that she seems to enjoy tossing her toys when she knows she has an audience, as if to say Did you see that! Also good to know about this adorable rabbit is that she has perfect litter habits, making her even cuter indeed!
